My Bike Bites The Dust

My Bike Bites the Dust
by Amit

“Woo-Hoo!” I hollered as my dad fetched the bikes. My bike was a flash of orange in the sunlight. As I sped through the backyard, I had to squint to see. The sun was shining on the boiling summer day. It was the perfect time to go bicycling.

I related to the song in the show Phineas and Ferb. It's called "Summer Where Do We Begin." My favorite part is the chorus: "The days are longer, the nights are shorter, the sun is shining, it's noticeably warmer." It described this day perfectly. My sister zapped me back into reality by challenging me to a race. "Game on!" I replied.

I, with my larger bike, was several meters ahead. I made a quick swivel to turn around, and then went full speed to finish the race around the oval shaped track. Abruptly, there was a SCREECH! I realized that I had forgotten to switch the handles to their rightful positions! At the exact wrong moment there was a THUNK THUD and an ERK! I had gone over a crevice in the pavement!

As my bike slipped on the curb, I shrieked and screamed. Suddenly, everything was in slow motion. My bike twisted and turned, swerving left and right, spiraling and looping everywhere! I slammed the brakes only to find out that the pedal had fallen off! I yelled as the handle pierced my stomach. I coughed and wheezed, shocked that I couldn't breathe.

Later, my dad ran over, rushed me into the house, and put numbing ice on me. After the incident, I had a gash on my stomach, and quite a few scrapes and scratches. From then on, I made sure my handles were in place!

Coney Island

by Paul C.

“Cyclone” I expected the Cyclone to be much more than it was.The time I went to Coney Island my dad and I went on a ride called the Cyclone. I do not know why it was called the “Cyclone”,But,I do know that it was very fun...and very unique...that unique part was definitely was not in good way. There we found the Cyclone, finally and it was the only ride we could go on because the rest of the park had been rented out to a school group. This ride looked like it hadn’t been touched in 80 years. It had not been painted or even looked updated, but we still went on.I was excited and nervous all at the same time. We walked up this weird ramp and was directed to another couple of ramps. Then I had to get my height checked but getting my height checked and that was like 5 seconds but,it felt like an hour,it was weird because the people seemed like they did not know what they were doing! But,checking someone's height seems simple to me...I mean its not rocket science,or at at least i never thought it was,and then we were finally able to buy ticket. As we climbed in the cart, they pushed the lap bar down and we started moving.First we climbed and went up and up then we started going kind of fast...the roller coaster was very rickey and then we started going down and then making sharp turns.”Wheee” The beams were close to my Dad’s head and he had to duck down not to hit his head.We moved in a spiral.then almost like magic the ride was over! When the ride was over I was so doleful...doleful means sad!I was sad because the ride was over but then again,I was not that sad.My mom came over and asked us if it was scary and we both said "no".But than again it might have been if i was not thinking so much on how fun it was to be in New York so then, mab then maybe it would! After that,we also went to some shops and I purchased a shirt and then we walked around to some places. After that we went to dunkin doughnuts and my mom got a coffee then to Nathan's and I got a burger and some frozen lemonade and my dad got a burger too and my mom got a hot dog.We walked around the boardwalk on the beach. We had to get in the car and then we drove off and then I said "Goodbye New York and hello school!" THE END!

New Years Eve

New Years Eve
When are they coming! It was New Years Eve and my family was having a party. I’ve been waiting for my cousins to come. I was so excited, we were going to boston on the subway. The people in my family that were going was my sister Jade, my brother Dale, my cousins Joslyn,Jenna,Jessie,Nicole, my dad, my Auntie Sherri, my my uncle Steve, and me. But before we went I had to get ready to go. I skipped steps as I raced up the stairs into my room with anxiousness built up inside me.

But as I raced up the stairs my mom said make sure you dress really warm it freezing out side. So thats what I did. First I put on my dri-fit sweat pants over my leggings and put my ugg boots on. I felt the soft wool on the inside of my boots run threw my fingers as I slipped them on. I leaped up on my feet and galloped down the stairs into my mom and dads room on the second floor. She handed me a long-jon shirt so I will be nice and warm. Next I brushed my hair out and galloped down another set of stairs to the first floor to get gloves, a hat, a scarf, and my black puffy winter coat. I gazed out the window with hope that i’d see my cousins silver mini van. They were here. “They're here” I yelled up to my brother and sister,my dad was already down stairs.

Were driving in our cousins car to the subway. When I opened the door and first stepped foot on the porch I shivered. It’s freezing outside. I could see my breath, It looked like a little cloud. I quickly dashed to the car and said hi to my cousins. The warm heat blowing on my cold face. But after a while with the heat blasting and several layers of warm clothes on it felt like I was standing next to a blazing fire. We were about 20 minutes away from the subway and I had a headache I started to take of my gloves, hat, scarf, and jacket. I felt so much better after I did. It took about 45 minutes but we finally arrived at the subway.

I whipped my winter clothes back on and leaped out of the car with joy. I sighed with relief, the cold freezing air never felt so good. I saw little bright white flurries falling from the star-less sky. After a couple of minutes everyone was ready to go. when I opened the door I heard people talking and the trains stopping with a screech. The parents made sure everyone was there because there were seven of us kids. We started walking towards the machine that gives you a card to let you get pass the gates. Pretty soon we were standing waiting for the train to take us to the part of Boston were going to.

The trained stopped in front of us so we leaped in the train struggling to get seats so we didn't have to hold on to the nasty poles. The train wibbled  and wobbled till it came to a complete stop. We gathered together as we got out of the train. We raced up the stairs, and out of the train station. We saw sky scraping building the second we opened the doors. Were going to see fire-works they start at about 10:00 pm and we have to be home before 12:00 pm. Its 9:00 pm right now. As we were walking along the concrete path we spotted ice skaters and we stopped to watch. I gazed at the blades on they're skates glide across the smooth ice. They did amazing tricks.

Right next to the ice skaters were the ice sculptures. My favorite one was the octopus. It was about time to see the fire-works. We spotted a good spot to watch them. We all felt num. The cold, freezing air was blowing on our red rosy cheeks. “wow” Jenna said, They're was a bright blue fire-work that lit up the sky. Then many more after that one. Pretty soon it was 11:00 pm, the fire-works were over, and it was time to hop back on the train and go home. We headed back  to the subway on the same path we came from. They're were not that many people on the train this time. After a while we were in the car on the way back to my house.

they're was about half an hour left till 2014. When we arrived at my house we took off all of our winter clothes and got ginger ale. Time flies by so fast that we were already counting down 5,4,3,2,1 HAPPY NEW YEAR. As the new year began I knew it was going to be a good one. and it was.

Niagara Falls EmaNarrative

Niagara Falls  by Eman K.
Splash! The water struck the boat. As the captain started the engine, the strong waves compelled the boat to sway as it moved on. The boat moved slowly across the water. The falls were beautiful, they looked like smoke. I got a spectacular view of Niagara. I was so excited and speechless.

With my camera in hand, I saw trees, rocks, and tall buildings all from the safety of the boat. From “ Oohs”, to “ Aahs”, everyone was happy to see the world’s wonder. I was thinking where does the water go, where does it comes from, how come it’s never dried up? It’s another one of God’s miracles.

The falls were amazing. As we got closer, the water looked white, and smelled fresh. The sound of the waterfalls was calming, almost like music. The mist was refreshing as it cooled the skin. Luckily, the pink ponchos we were given prevented us from getting wet.

My family and I were truly amazed. Before the ride, we had an option to choose whatever boat we wanted. Though I would have rather been on the “Maid of the Mist”, I was satisfied with the ride we chose. It was a great experience I wouldn’t forget: the *first* time I went to the Niagara Falls. I cherished every moment because
the opportunity may never come back.

The Broken Collarbone

Jada M.                       The Broken Collarbone                           7              January 8 2015
“ Is your cough contagious?” Amber asked one day. “No” I said “ It’s just asthma.” “Oh.” Amber said. “So, what do you want to do now?” Alan asked with boredom. “Let’s just take a walk down the road and then we will come back.” I said. “Sounds good to me” Alex said.
We started down the street. As we were walking my uncle drove down the road to tell me he was going to the store to get some dog treats. As my uncle left he yelled “CHICKENS” which always make the dog bark.

My uncle finally went off into the distance. Amber,Alan,Alex and I kept walking on. We were getting tired so we sat on Alan’s porch. My friend Alex was furiouse at Alan because we played a game of tag earlier and Alan had impelled him quite a few times. Alan saw Alex glaring at him so he quickly moved away. Alan turned around and stuck out his tongue at Alex. Alex had enough, he charged at Alan and pushed him off of the porch. When Alan fell I heard a scream,it sounded like a tire screeching. collar-bone-xray medium.jpg

All of a sudden I heard a crash, it sounded like a loud “THUMP”. I went running for his door. Alan’s sister called the ambulance. Alan was still lying on the ground when I got back. I tried to be optimistic about all of it but nothing to help. Before the ambulance came,Alan’s sister chased Alex all the way down the road and spitting out threats at him.Alan’s sister darted back to the house in time to tell the police what had happened. It took me about 10 minute to say what happened to the police but it ended pretty well. When Alan came back from the hospital, I found out that he had a broken collarbone. It healed soon after and everything turned out well in the end.

Muppets Most Wanted Movie Review by Ash K.

Immediately following the events of their last film, the Muppets find themselves at a loss as to what to do for their sequel. They are approached by Dominic Badguy (bad-jee), who offers to manage the group and schedule a European tour. Meanwhile, the criminal mastermind Constantine, a near-exact double for Kermit the Frog in appearance, escapes from a Siberian Gulag and joins his subordinate Badguy to begin a plot to steal the Crown Jewels of England. Once the Muppets arrive in Berlin, Badguy secures them a show at a prestigious venue. Kermit, frustrated with the troupe's ludicrous requests and Miss Piggy's insistent hints at marriage, goes for a walk at Badguy's suggestion. Constantine ambushes him and glues a fake mole onto his cheek, matching Constantine's own, then slips away; the locals mistakenly identify Kermit as the criminal, and he is arrested and sent to the Gulag. Constantine takes Kermit's place, raising the suspicions of no one except Animal, and he and Badguy steal several paintings from a museum during the show. The next morning, Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon and CIA agent Sam Eagle grudgingly team up to apprehend the culprit, whom Napoleon believes to be his nemesis, "The Lemur" - the number-two criminal in the
world. And I don't want to spoil the ending so I will just say that Kermit escapes out of the Gulag… and things happen. A kind of person that will like this is that a person that loves Action, Adventure, and Comedy.

This film is rated PG by the MPAA for some mild action.

Cast: Tina Fey as Nadya, Ty Burrell as Jean Pierre Napoleon, Ricky Gervais as Dominic Badguy, Steve Whitmire as Kermit, Eric Jacobson as Miss Piggy, Dave Goelz as Gonzo, Tom Hiddleston as Great Escapo, Danny Trejo as Himself, Ray Liotta as Big Papa, Christoph Waltz, Peter Linz as Walter, Til Schweiger as German cop, Celine Dion as Piggy Fairy Godmother, Ross Lynch, Debby Ryan, Lady Gaga, and Usher as the Wedding Usher.

Penguins of Madagascar Review

Penguins is action-packed (the genre), emotional, and full of comedy! It is rated PG and reveals the unknown part of the Penguins' lives. Although it has almost nothing to do with Madgascar 3, 2, or 1 (the previous movies), it still contains Private's cuteness, Kowalski's literalism, Skipper's spy talk, and Rico's wildness. In this movie, the Penguins ofMadagascar go on a mission to save all the Penguins stolen by Dave the evil octopus. The North Wind (an elite spy squadron including Classified (a wolf), Short Fuse (a seal), Eva (an owl), and Corporal (a polar bear) tell them to stay out of it, but the Penguins' defying nature makes them do otherwise. I recommend people who like random comedy, action, or adventure. Also, if you want to know my rating on this movie, it's 9.7 out of 10.0.

Thanks for reading
